Hello fellow alumni!

Ian Miller from the Class of 1997 here. The Class of 1997 is celebrating their 10th anniversary this year! Hopefully you're in a place in life where you can say, "Gee golly! I'm sure glad I went to GSGIS for high school! Had I not had all the opportunities that GSGIS afforded me, I may not be where I am today!"

I can say this rings true for me. I worked in the computer labs way back in 1995, when the web was first getting its big start. The original Netscape browser (1.0) was released and we had a graphical way to move about on the World Wide Web! I designed a large part of the GSGIS web site and in 1997, I landed my first paid gig with a local company (RichWeb) just down the street from school. From there I went on to work at MP3.com and eventually founded my own company (VMIX) where I work now.

Had I not had that first opportunity of working with the web and spending countless hours at GSGIS, I may never have had the chance to take the path that I did. I even find instances where my 4 years of German and 2 of Spanish come into play (had I known then that I'd live in San Diego, I would have taken more Spanish!)

I'm calling on everyone to please consider the gifts that GSGIS has given us and take this opportunity to consider giving something back. We're not asking for a lot of money. Rather, our success is measured by the percentage of donors per class. If the majority of our class donates something, then this information is described to various grant sources who may then give even more money to the school. After all, we want to be able to show that GSGIS Alumni remember their history.

Please take a moment to consider what your GSGIS experience was worth to you, what you can afford at this time, and give a fitting donation by clicking here.
